- 1) SAVAC – Annual Juried Exhibition

SAVAC (South Asian Visual Arts Centre) in partnership with the Living Arts Centre is pleased to announce an open call for The Annual, SAVAC’s members’ juried group exhibition. The Annual is a platform to showcase the broad range and scope of critically engaged artwork being produced by artists from SAVAC’s membership.
SAVAC invites proposals for new and innovative artworks that explore current issues and ideas shaping South Asian identities and experiences. We encourage applications that engage a range of themes that examine our fast-paced and changing contemporary culture. SAVAC invites artists to submit proposals for completed works in all formats including painting, drawing, print-making to photography, sculpture, film, video, sound and new media installations. Deadline for proposals has been extended to April 26th, 2011. The exhibition will take place at the Living Arts Centre gallery from 9 July – 21 August 2011. For details, visit the SAVAC website.
- 2) A Space Gallery
Deadline: May 1, 2011.
A Space Gallery is accepting submissions to their Main Gallery for exhibitions in the 2012 and the 2013 seasons. This call is for artists working in all media and is also open to curatorial proposals.
Founded in 1971, A Space, located in downtown Toronto is of the oldest artist-run centres in Canada. Applicants should consider that our programming mandate focuses on work that is politically engaged, oriented around non-dominant communities, and supportive of innovative curatorial and technical practices. A Space is interested in ways that artists and curators can create a space for different readings or experiences of culture and identity, in issue-based projects and in multidisciplinary projects that create a forum for dialogue and collaboration between diverse communities, including youth cultures and communities in transition. A Space pays artist fees to artists according to CARFAC standards. Deadline is May 1st, 2011. For submission details see the A Space website.

The Regent Park Film Festival (RPFF) wants to showcase your voice and talent! Canada’s largest and oldest inner city neighbourhood, populated predominantly by new immigrants, showcases international independent films
of all genres and cultural diversity every year. RPFF programming celebrates difference and uniqueness of all kinds, including: immigrant experiences, inner city issues, cultural identity and multicultural relationships.

Deadline: June 1, 2011.
The 12th aluCine Toronto Latin Film & Media Arts Festival is accepting submissions in all genres, experimental, fiction, doc,animation, video art, web of all lengths and subject matter below 30 minutes.
