A couple of quick hits from two of Reel Asian’s left-coast family: Jason Karman‘s documentary short Fortune Cooking has recently been picked up by the National Screen Institute for their year-round online short film festival. Karman was in town last month to support his piece I’m In The Mood For Love at both the Inside Out and WSFF festivals, and we screened his film State of Yo in 2008.
Reel Asian’s Canadian Spotlight artist that year was Paul Wong, who continues to make challenging and innovative work in the Canadian video art scene he pioneered more than thirty years ago. Under the auspices of his ON MAIN artist group, Wong’s current curatorial project is 10 Seconds, a series of commissioned works for the Canada Line video screens as part of a year-long project celebrating Vancouver 125. The fourth video in the series, Movement for Two Grannies by director Laiwan, launches July 18 through July 31 on Canada Line video screens and on YouTube.Tweet this!
