RYERSON UNIVERSITY – Research Assistant, Image Archiving
Start: August 1, 2011, End: 6 months (renewable), 10-15 Hours per Week

Responsibilities:
The position involves the managing of image records in FileMaker Pro, including cataloguing, digitizing, and preserving of images, as well as determining provenance and copyright for images used in publications. The tasks may also involve research and other assistance with cataloguing the MLC Image Library and Archive.

Qualifications:
The student should have experience in working with Image Art, Photo Preservation, Literature, or related field, as well as experience in copyright searches. Commensurate technical skills are essential. Cataloguing experience and knowledge of modernist literature and culture will be an asset.

Director of Programming

The Director of Programming is a key member or the organization’s senior management team. S/he will be responsible for developing the programming vision for the Festival, continuing Hot Docs’ reputation for presenting a high-calibre documentary slate each year. The Director of Programming will also be expected to contribute to the long-term visioning and strategic planning for the organization, working with the development department to help research and shape new initiatives, and with the wider senior management team to help direct existing projects, both online and live-event based.

CINEMA PROGRAMMER/BOOKER

The Cinema Programmer/Booker is a key member or the organization’s senior management team. The Cinema Programmer/Booker will also be expected to contribute to the long-term visioning and strategic planning for the venue, working with development, communications and customer relations departments to help research and shape new initiatives, and with the wider senior management team to help direct existing projects, both online and live-event based.

WEB SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (Contract)

This temporary part-time placement is targeted to students in the process of completing or *recent graduates of a Library Technician program.

INTERACCESS ELECTRONIC MEDIA ARTS CENTRE – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
InterAccess is currently seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization and steer its future development. InterAccess is Ontario’s only gallery and production facility devoted exclusively to electronic media art. From its early incarnations as a shared technology centre to its current role as a non-profit, artist-run centre and global participant in electronic media art curation and exhibition, InterAccess has ambitiously explored artistic practices associated with interactivity; networked and remote connection; and experimental interfacing between the physical and virtual.

Responsibilities:
The Executive Director, in collaboration with the Director of Programming, will oversee all aspects of the organization’s operations, including development, budgeting and finance, communications, partnerships and future planning/visioning, under the guidance of the Board of Directors.

TRAFFIC COORDINATOR @ aluCine TORONTO LATIN FILM AND MEDIA ARTS FESTIVAL

aluCine Toronto Latin Film & Media Arts Festival is seeking a Traffic Coordinator.  This position requires excellent organizational skills and follow-through.

Some of the responsibilities involved are:
- Assisting in the vital area of film and video tracking, shipping, and trafficking
- Contacting distribution companies, studios, and filmmakers
- Arrange arrival, shipping and return of all short film prints/videos, (approx 100 prints)
- Send letter of rejection and invitation
- To contact the filmmakers / artist
- To confirm the films participation in the festival
- To confirm format of the film in which is coming to the festival
- Shipping and receiving materials using domestic and international carriers
- Inspection, identification, and tracking of incoming and outgoing film and video elements
- General collection inventory, data entry, and cataloging
- Inspection of film prints for screenings

Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and FileMaker Pro in a MAC environment
- Understanding of film and video formats
- Detail oriented
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese an asset

Position Details:
- 3.5-month, part time contract
- Start Date: August 15, 2011
- End Date: November 30, 2011
