Planet in Focus kicks off!

This morning I attended the official press launch for the 12th Annual Planet in Focus Environment Film Festival (PIF) which took place in the majestic Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). As I walked through the halls past the animals behind glass cases, it is no coincidence that the festival has chosen this site as their venue.

Kathleen Mullen, PIF’s Director of Programming ran through this year’s highlights including trailers of their exciting Opening and Closing “green carpet” galas Revenge of the Electric Car and The Whale.  I think it’s also no coincidence that both films are narrated by uber-famous hollywood actors Tim Robbins and Ryan Reynolds.

Of course a PIF launch wouldn’t be complete without the ROM’s Earth Rangers who graced the guests with the presence of Maverick, an American Kestrel (falcon), to remind us of the importance of taking action to protect wildlife.

PIF takes place October 12-16 at TIFF Lightbox, ROM and Al Green Theatre. This year Reel Asian co-presents Waking the Green Tiger (Director Gary Marcuse, Canada 2011) on Sunday, October 16, 2:00PM at ROM.
