    WHAT IS AUGMENTED CINEMA?

Augmented Cinema is a term that was coined by Jamie McMillan through his research in film studies, cinemas, and audience behaviour. Augmented refers to our modern outlook towards the cinema in the West. The Augmented Cinema is one that has evolved out of the desire to immerse audiences into the films and create a fictional disembodiment from the self. Augmented also refers to the emergence of digital technology in the cinema and how these technologies have changed the way that we relate to the screen. This has been explored as the use of technology in aspects of the cinema such as screens and sound, aspects of film production such as cameras and editing, and technology in society that enhances (or detracts) the cinematic experience, e.g. DVDs, alternate reality games, etc.
