- The Past Is Present – Ngo Van Sac Solo Exhibition

Ngo Van Sac, winner of Vietnam’s 2012 Dogma national portrait competition, explores the theme of temporal overlap from a variety of compelling perspectives in his solo exhibit, The Past Is The Present, at The East Gallery. His wood-engravings and –burnings, paintings and collages evocatively capture the paradox of a country rushing to modernize while at the same time holding fast to images of the past.
Exhibit Dates: April 4 – May 5. Open daily from 9:00AM – 11:00PM
Opening Reception is on Saturday April 6, from 3:00PM – 6:00 PM

AmérAsia Film Festival

The AmérAsia Film Festival is organized by Ciné-Asie, a non-profit organization based in Montréal which has worked for more than 16 years in the promotion of Asian and Asian-Canadian culture and cinema. Ciné-Asie is led by founder Mi Jeong Lee, who served for over 13 years as one of the Asian Programming Directors for the Fantasia International Film Festival.
Montreal’s AmérAsia Film Festival showcases the work of independent filmmakers of Asian-Canadian heritage as well as Asian inspired films. The festival encourages the audience to be active in the media arts community and gives audiences a chance to see works that would usually be inaccessible, also allowing viewers to think about their own, and others, cultural heritage in a critical context.
The fourth edition of AmérAsia Film Festival will take place April 25, 2013 – May 5, 2013.
New York Indian Film Festival

The 13th Annual New York Indian Film Festival is North America’s oldest and most prestigious destination for feature films, documentaries, and shorts from and about the Indian subcontinent. NYIFF is a once-a-year opportunity to experience the rich and diverse film cultures of the Indian subcontinent through a mix of film screenings, discussions, industry panels, nightly parties, an awards ceremony, and gala red carpet events.
This year’s festival takes place May 30 – April 4, 2013 at the Skirball Center for Performing Arts.
