Saturday, 17 November 2012 from10 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Internationally acclaimed artist Xu Tan visits the Varley Art Gallery of Markham. He will present his work, Keywords School, in two unique workshops from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Land|Slide: Possible Futures, an art project opening at the Markham Museum in September 2013, has invited Xu Tan to Markham to develop a new version of his mobile learning project, Keywords School. Through Keywords School, Xu Tan will lead workshops with Markham residents in order to develop new dialogue around issues tied to themes such as family, food, housing and the future of Markham.
Drawing on past versions of his project, Xu Tan invites participants to discuss and generate new sets of keywords. Workbooks, videos, forums, and a Dictionary of Keywords will be provided as resources and aids during the workshop. Visitors are invited to join the discussion.
