Details:
Sensational Japanese-American ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro has taken the four-string, two-octave instrument to places no one has gone before, performing awesome music that ranges from jazz, blues, and rock to bluegrass, classical, and folk. His live concerts are an out-of-the-box blend of stunning virtuosity, deep musicality and a natural entertainer’s flair. Watch a video of Jake here.
Jake has his own record label, and tours extensively in the U.S. A. and Japan. He has completely rewritten the book on the possibilities of the ukulele — and is adding new chapters with every CD he records.
Come see Jake play live at the Flato Markham Theatre (171 Town Centre Blvd) on Friday, April 19, 2013, 8:00pm – 10:00pm. Buy tickets here.
Reel Asian was proud to screen the Canadian Premiere of Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings, a documentary about the legend himself by filmmaker Tadashi Nakamura. Watch the film’s trailer here.
