Toronto is about to see the next break-through in music and artistry – and you’ll get to witness it on Saturday, September 21.
As a branch of the largest Asian American movement in North America that provides a showcase for artists in the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community, Kollaboration Toronto is hosting its annual show at the John Bassett Theatre inside the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from 7-10 p.m., with the help of major sponsors, TD Canada Trust and Samsung.
Six finalists are competing to be crowned as the winner of Kollaboration Toronto 2013 and move onto the online polls for a chance to perform at the finale show called Kollaboration Star in Los Angeles.
Those in fierce competition are the BOSS Dance Company (2012 winners of the Beatdown Hip-Hop Competition), Plaitwrights and Charleston Relay (performers at UNITY’s 2013 festival), Kevin Wong (singer/song-writer), Anna Bella (singer/dancer/musical theatre), Spire Fusion (instrumental band of Chinese/Western instruments), and Tina Hung (singer/song-writer).
One of the winners of Kollaboration Toronto’s 2012 show, the rock band, Maybe Refuge, is a fan-favourite and will be performing songs from their impending ED.
And with great anticipation, this year’s headlining guest act is an established hip-hip duo founded and based in Toronto. Having already performed at Coachella 2012 and Osheaga, while rocking the stage alongside Snoop Dogg as fellow artists under the same management, they are giving back to the community by performing at Kollaboration Toronto 2013 and supporting its cause – and they are none other than the Airplane Boys.
