Filmmaker Update: Shasha Nakhai

Only one week left to help crowd-fund filmmaker Shasha Nakhai’s latest project Weekend Warrior!

Weekend Warrior is a new short comedy from the Casey Brothers and Compy Films.

Weekend Warrior follows Bobby Reddick as he tries to adjust to life in the Canadian army reserves, and the friction he encounters when his instructing officer discovers he’s abusing the system for his own personal therapy.

In 2010, Shasha Nakhai won the Reel Asian “So You Think You Can Pitch” competition in the Emerging Filmmaker category. The following year her short documentary “The Sugar Bowl” premiered at the festival and was the winner of the WIFT-T award. Shasha’s latest short film “Paruparo” premiered at Reel Asian in the SPRUNG live film and dance presentation.

TAAFI call for submissions 2014

TAAFI, Toronto’s Animation Fest is excited to announce that the 3rd annual TAAFI Call for Submissions 2014 has officially opened and submissions remain free of cost now until December 15 via taafi.com/submit. TAAFI will be back at TIFF Bell Lightbox and Corus Quay next Spring 2014!

TAAFI celebrates and explores the world of animation arts across a wide range of styles from all across the globe. The 2012 festival showcased over 100 short films from all over the world, including Grand Prix winner dir. Rony Hotin (Le Vagabond De Saint Marcel - France, 2013), and welcomed almost 100 speakers over the course of the three day festival. TAAFI 2014 will be held Mid June, 2014 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox and Corus Quay in spectacular downtown Toronto.
