Filmmaker Update: Peter Chan and Paul Wong

The 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival will celebrate the achievements of the internationally recognized Hong Kong filmmaker, Peter Chan Ho-sun, with a series of events during the festival, with screenings, seminars, an exhibition and the publication of a special catalogue. Peter Chan Ho-Sun directed Bodyguards and Assassins, our Asian Heritage Month screening for 2011; he also contributed a short to the 1:99 film project we showed in 2003.

Tony PantagesPolar Bear: Native to Vancouver is the next project in the 10 Seconds series.  Curated by Paul Wong, Reel Asian’s Canadian Spotlight artist in 2008, these works are commissioned for Canada Line’s video screens as part of Vancouver125.  They have been running since April, and will go until March 2012. Each 10-second-long work is screened every two minutes, for an audience of more than 100,000 commuters a day.

10 Seconds is presented by On Main in partnership with InTransitBC. Commissioned by the City of Vancouver Public Art Program with the support of Vancouver 125 and the participation of the Government of Canada.
